Child Wellness Visit
Overview
Virtual wellness consultations for infants, children, and teens. A video consultation supports preventive care but does not replace a complete age-appropriate in-person well-child examination. Your provider reviews growth and development, discusses age-appropriate preventive care, and helps you plan immunizations and follow-up. Illinois school health examinations and sports clearances require a hands-on exam that must be completed in person.
Common reasons for a child wellness visit
- A routine well-child check for your child's age
- Questions about growth, development, sleep, or behavior
- Review of immunizations and school or camp requirements
- Follow-up after a recent illness or a new diagnosis
When virtual care may be appropriate
- Your child is not acutely ill and has no urgent symptoms
- You are located in Illinois with your child at the time of the visit
- You can share recent growth measurements, temperature, or records

Possible treatment options
Treatment options may include prescription or nonprescription therapies when clinically appropriate. Your provider will determine whether a treatment is safe and appropriate after reviewing your health history and completing a clinical evaluation. Prescriptions are never guaranteed.
Options may include preventive guidance, referrals, lab orders, and medication when clinically appropriate. Care is individualized and prescriptions are never guaranteed.
When laboratory testing or in-person care may be needed
Some concerns may require laboratory testing, imaging, an in-person examination, or referral to a specialist. Your provider will advise you if your situation is not appropriate for virtual care.
A hands-on physical exam, vision and hearing screening, immunizations, and Illinois school health forms cannot be completed by video. Your provider will coordinate the appropriate in-person services; vaccines and specialized screening may require another facility.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a prescription through a virtual visit?
A prescription may be considered only when clinically appropriate and after your provider reviews your health history and completes an evaluation. A prescription is never guaranteed.
Can I receive care if I live outside Illinois?
Not at this time. First Priority Clinic currently provides telehealth services to eligible patients located in Illinois.
Can you complete the Illinois Certificate of Child Health Examination by video?
No. The school health examination requires an in-person exam and a completed immunization record. A mobile visit brings the exam to your home.
What ages do you see?
We see patients from infancy through adulthood as a family practice. Virtual visits are available for eligible patients located in Illinois.
Can siblings be seen in one visit?
Siblings can often be scheduled together, and a mobile visit charges one travel fee per household rather than one per child.
