Notice changes in urination
A weak stream, trouble starting, frequent nighttime urination, or feeling that your bladder is not empty can deserve medical evaluation. These symptoms can occur with different prostate or urinary conditions; symptoms alone do not establish a diagnosis.
When to seek care
Seek medical help right away if you cannot urinate at all. Contact a clinician promptly for blood in your urine, painful urination, fever or chills, or significant discomfort in your abdomen or genital area. Do not wait for a routine virtual appointment when symptoms need urgent attention.
Prepare for a conversation
Write down when symptoms started, how often they occur, and whether you have pain or fever. Bring a list of medicines and any previous test results. Evaluation may involve an examination and urine or blood testing. A video visit cannot replace every examination or test.
Take the next step
Discuss persistent changes with a healthcare professional rather than assuming they are a normal part of aging. You can explore our men's health services or contact your usual clinician to determine the appropriate setting for care.
